The chairman and CEO of Barings LLC, Thomas Finke of Charlotte, North Carolina, manages more than $300 billion in assets. Pleased to share his financial expertise with the community, Thomas (Tom) Finke is a member of the investment committee of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte.

In the interest of properly stewarding its resources, the Charlotte Diocese established a finance council that is charged with preserving the church’s assets and making prudent decisions on expenditures and investments. The church’s financial administrators also ensure compliance with financial regulations and provide transparency to church benefactors on the ways their gifts are being used.

In its oversight role, the financial office of the Charlotte Diocese advises and assists the parishes, schools, and other organizations it financially supports to ensure those entities practice proper financial reporting and use the church’s funds in the manner intended. In addition to the finance council's strong internal controls, the church has hired Deloitte and Touche to conduct annual independent audits.
